Politicians deal in billions. Homeowners deal in monthly payments.
Ed Brings the Sunshine. We Bring the Calculator.
Ed Miliband has unveiled his latest masterplan for Britain’s homes. It’s called the Warm Homes Plan, and it’s full of big promises, bold targets, and more sunshine than a Tenerife brochure.
Which is great. We love sunshine. It’s literally our brand.
But after wading through the document, one thing was still missing:
How much does it actually cost a real Scottish household?
Because politicians deal in billions.
Homeowners deal in monthly payments.
The Plan (Sounds Magic)
The Warm Homes Plan promises:
- Millions of upgraded homes
- Lower energy bills
- Better insulation
- Cleaner energy
- A future where nobody has to choose between heating and eating
All genuinely positive goals. No argument there.
But the language is classic government-speak:
frameworks, strategies, delivery mechanisms, long-term ambitions.
Translation:
“We’ve got a plan. You’ll find out the price later.”
It’s a bit like being told you’re getting a free holiday, but nobody will tell you where, when, or how much the airport taxi costs.
The Missing Bit (The Bit That Actually Matters)
Nowhere in the plan does it tell homeowners:
- What a typical solar system costs
- What size system they actually need
- What their monthly payment might be
- What the real payback looks like
- Or whether their roof even makes sense in the first place
Which is awkward, because those are literally the only questions people ask us.
You can’t run a household on policy.
You run it on numbers.
Scottish Reality vs Political Reality
Politicians talk in national averages.
Homeowners live in three-bed semis in Paisley, stone cottages in Fife, and tenements in Glasgow.
Different roofs.
Different usage.
Different maths.
A “national solution” means nothing if it doesn’t work on your house.
If the plan doesn’t work on your roof, it doesn’t work at all.
The SunBru Way
At SunBru, we’re not against big plans.
We’re just allergic to vague ones.
So instead of:
- “National strategy”
We do:
- “Here’s your roof”
- “Here’s your system size”
- “Here’s your monthly payment”
- “Here’s your payback”
No speeches.
No manifestos.
No sales calls.
Just proper Scottish numbers.
Why This Actually Matters
Solar is one of the biggest financial decisions most households will make outside of a mortgage.
Yet most people are expected to navigate it with:
- Sales pitches
- Leaflets
- Or government PDFs written for civil servants
None of which answer the only question that matters:
Is this actually worth it for me?
The Bottom Line
We’re not here to sell you hope.
We’re here to show you maths.
Before any installer knocks.
Before any politician promises.
Before you believe anyone.
Run your numbers first. Then decide.
Because:
Ed brings the sunshine.
We bring the calculator.
